Why Your MSP Needs Third-Party Validation
There is a tremendous sense of satisfaction that comes by doing it right by your client. The impetus for that kind of satisfaction doesn’t find its origin within the service provider but when a 3rd party assesses your performance in relation to cybersecurity. I mean, next to AI, cybersecurity is one of the most popular subjects discussed in the information technology spectrum.
A lot of what we do here at Auxzillium is transparent to our end users and the decision makers for our clients. They don’t see it, but they trust us. For example, have you ever inquired of your Managed Services Provider (MSP) whether they are doing this or that? Perhaps you’ve read in one of these blogs, saw something on the news or in social media that piqued your interest, so you asked your service provider if they’re doing anything like it for you.
Since cybersecurity or the fallout from its limited implementation consistently grabs headlines it can create a measure of concern. It should! This is where the questions come in. Have you been told you have backups only to be ransomed and unable to recover? I think some MSP’s may believe they’ve done a good job, covered all bases, and secured you according to a standard they’ve defined. What if they’re not? Who is going to point that out? Any competitor to your current MSP can come in and point out flaws. That’s part of what anyone would do to suggest their way of doing things is better.
When it comes to a high-level cybersecurity assessment, not many MSP’s are qualified to perform one. Having one or two cybersecurity professionals may qualify quantitatively but it is unsatisfactory qualitatively.
In July the Department of War suspended all CMMC Phase 2 requirements. It did this right after I had participated in a CMMC Readiness Assessment for one of our clients. We have had a lengthy relationship with that client. The cost and effort required to prepare them has been nothing short of extraordinary. In fact, a lot of what goes into Phase 2 impacts users, so it is anything but transparent.
A different client just went through an assessment for Phase 1. Much of what Auxzillium has said we’ve done and was transparent gets revealed through this process. Notice I said revealed and not exposed. While the client was overjoyed, I kinda/sorta gave our company a pat on the back. Why? The 3rd party performing the assessment could see the efforts made to secure our client.
